How many times has the
news consumed viewers from being biased? The emergencies of fake news are more
serious than we know. Why is biased and fake news a thing in the first place,
how does it benefit us? Some may feel it is a source of entertainment while
others like myself just see it as ridiculousness. As a media analyst, I've
noticed that Bias in Cable News hits the surface hard around election time in
American, and not only presidential elections, but other elections as
well. As I researched Bias in cable news more I realized how it can be an
issue in society.
Is television
cable news biased? The answer is yes. The other answer is that television cable
news can become controversial within a matter of seconds. The least bias
television news is the ones with neutral facts and undegrading storylines. The
most empirically and unbiased cable television news network is unforeseen
because sometimes there's not a right time to broadcast the wrong thing. Most Americans believe that 75% of the news
they watch on cable is biased.
According to
research ‘Fox News’ earned an overall score of -87% when it comes to being
biased from the political Democratic Party. Republicans rated fox news as just
biased, with no percentage. MSNBC luckily earned 0 ratings from being biased
from both the Democratic and Republican Party. The New York Times scored low
with the republican party and high with the Democratic party when it comes to
bias. Some reviewers feel that the New York Times was a quote on quote 'Too
honest' to the republican party's liking. Shockingly, democrats rated NBC News
as biased while Republicans didn't. Things were mutual when both political
parties' ratings for The Wall Street Journal was closer than expected. However,
PBS news is considered the most unbiased cable news network in the United
States of America by both the Democratic and Republican parties.
See how almost
everything that is considered biased on television aligns with politics? Do the
topics align because both cable news and politics are considered biased most of
the time? Politics may be considered biased for numerous amount of reasons.
According to research, Democrats and Republicans only choose to recognize
biased comments and facts when it is against each other.
To sum things up,
bias or not bias, it is all about what we as Americans think about the news we
see on cable. Some of us may feel a sense of distrust, and some of us may feel
the news is right. Opinions, and hidden facts. The division that biased
comments and thoughts cause come with hidden agendas and confusing statements.
